What Is HCCI?
Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc. (HCCI) is a non-profit organization dedicated
to counseling and educating all people to achieve their personal housing and financial
goals. HCCI began as a grass-roots tenant's rights organization in 1972
and has grown into a multi-service organization with three offices throughout Northeastern
Kansas - Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, - and a staff of 18.
What Does HCCI Do?
HCCI's core programs include:
- Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling - This program provides budget
and debt education and counseling. Consumers who are financially overextended
due to job loss, divorce, hospitalization or overspending can learn about the financial
options. HCCI administers a low-cost debt repayment program, which enables
consumers to repay their debts with reduced interest and fees.

Homebuyer Counseling - Prospective homebuyers come to HCCI to find answers
regarding all aspects of the homebuying process, including qualification, affordable
housing options, the homebuying process and home maintenance.

Tenant and Landlord Counseling - This program provides counseling and education
for both tenants and landlord, including information on local city ordinances, Kansas
State laws, and federal acts that affect tenant and landlord relationships.
